Joshua P. Stewart

Joshua P. Stewart

Attorney

Mr. Stewart joined Callahan, Thompson, Sherman & Caudill in summer of 2022 after practicing criminal defense in Baltimore. His practice includes a wide array of civil matters, from assisting mental healthcare providers with subpoenas, to intellectual property disputes, wage and hour claims, and workplace discrimination.

Before becoming a lawyer, Mr. Stewart spent 14 years as newspaper reporter covering politics and national security. His work put him on warships, inside the White House and courtrooms, and on the edge of crime scenes. His investigations led to a historic fine against a power company and sparked state and federal investigations of politicians who were later convicted on public corruption charges. His experience as a journalist and his ability to dig through mountains of records are invaluable while representing his clients.

While in law school, Mr. Stewart clerked for Judge Robert McDonald on the Maryland Court of Appeals (recently re-named the Supreme Court of Maryland), and for United States Senator Benjamin Cardin. He was on the editorial board for the Journal of Race, Religion, Gender, and Class. He received awards for his work in public service, and for his research and writing on the impact expungements of minor drug convictions have on employability, wages, and job opportunities.
