Mr. Caudill is the managing partner of the psychology department of Callahan, Thompson, Sherman & Caudill,LLP. Mr. Caudill is a graduate of Michigan State University (B.A. in Psychology with high honors, Honors College, Phi Beta Kappa, 1972) and Georgetown University Law Center (J.D. 1976), and is an active member of the California bar and an inactive member of the District of Columbia bar. Mr. Caudill has represented mental health professionals in civil suits and licensing board cases since 1982.

Mr. Caudill is a recognized expert in the area of defense of mental health professionals, both in the civil and administrative contexts. He represented mental health professionals in the precedent setting cases of Krikorian v. Barry, Gootee v. Lightner, and Trear v. Sills.

Mr. Caudill has helped professional groups formulate ethical standards. In 1999 Mr. Caudill received the Silver PSI award from the California Psychological Association, Division of Professional Practice for outstanding contribution to the profession of psychology.

Mr. Caudill has spoken at various workshops for mental health professionals and been a guest lecturer at classes on psychology, ethics and law issues at Rosemead Graduate School of Biola University, Chapman University, Fuller Theological Seminary, Pepperdine University and California School of Professional Psychology.

Mr. Caudill has written over 20 articles of interest to mental health professionals, including articles on note taking, dual relationships, repressed memory, contractual agreements, administrative licensing board actions, sexual misconduct, vicarious liability, informed consent, social media and hypnosis, a book.

Mr. Caudill is co-author with Kenneth Pope, Ph.D. entitled “Law & Mental Health Professionals: California” which was published by the American Psychological Association; and chapters in the book “Therapists at Risk” edited by Lawrence Hedges, Ph.D. published in early 1997: a chapter co-authored with Kenneth Pope, Ph.D. in “Handbook of Couple and Family Forensics” edited by Florence W. Kaslow, published in 2000; a chapter in “Ethics in Marriage and Family Therapy” published by the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy in 2001; a chapter in “Innovations in Clinical Practice: A Source Book, Volume 20” edited by Leon Vandecreek, published by Professional Resource Press in 2002.
